CleanSpark's Bitcoin Mining Surge: Achieving 30 EH/s and Future Growth Plans

CleanSpark's Remarkable Performance in Bitcoin Mining
CleanSpark Inc (NASDAQ:CLSK) shares are experiencing fluctuations in early trading. On Thursday, the company announced a significant milestone, achieving 30 EH/s in operational hashrate.
What Happened:
Bitcoin mining company CleanSpark has reported that its hashrate has reached 30 EH/s and is on track to exceed 37 EH/s by the end of the year. This impressive growth of approximately 200% year-over-year is attributed to strategic acquisitions and a fleet upgrade, coupled with substantial organic growth.
The company also noted a 20% improvement in efficiency over the past year and a 112% increase in total operational machines during the same period.
Zach Bradford, CEO of CleanSpark, stated, “Reaching 30 EH/s positions us as one of the largest bitcoin miners in the world. We have added more operational hashrate than any other miner in 2024, demonstrating our commitment to rapid scalability and capital efficiency.”
Growth Trajectory:
Since October 2021, CleanSpark has significantly ramped up its computing power, having quadrupled in 2022, nearly doubled in 2023, and is on pace to triple its hashrate in 2024. The company anticipates additional hashrate growth with the closing of its GRIID Infrastructure acquisition this month, aiming for 50 EH/s and beyond by 2025.
Operational Resilience:
Following disruptions caused by Hurricane Helene, CleanSpark quickly restored its hashrate to 17.5 EH/s within 24 hours. Fortunately, the company reported no material damage to its infrastructure or mining servers.
In September, CleanSpark mined 493 Bitcoin, up from 478 in August, bringing its total mined Bitcoin to 5,079 year-to-date. Bradford emphasized the company’s strategic market timing and securing the best pricing on rigs, which has allowed them to grow their bitcoin treasury to over 8,049 bitcoin.
CLSK Stock Performance:
After the hashrate update, CleanSpark shares initially rose over 1% but later pulled back due to broader market reactions to CPI and jobless claims data. As of publication, the stock was down 0.436 at $8.82.
