CoreWeave Boosts Bitcoin Miner Core Scientific Deal by $1.225B

Cloud computing provider CoreWeave has expanded its deal with Bitcoin miner Core Scientific by exercising an option for additional infrastructure for its NVIDIA GPUs. This adds another $1.225 billion to the income Core Scientific expects to receive. The deal involves Core Scientific modifying its facilities in Austin, Texas to provide 70 MW of infrastructure for CoreWeave in the second half of 2025. This expansion comes on top of an earlier agreement in June for 200 MW of infrastructure, worth $3.5 billion over 12 years. Core Scientific is well-positioned to take advantage of the increasing demand for application-specific data centers (ASDCs), which are designed to meet the specific needs of advanced computing workloads. The company plans to continue enhancing its crypto mining capacity while also expanding its hosting business, highlighting the growing potential of artificial intelligence (AI) for miners to diversify their revenue streams.
