Corporate Adoption of Bitcoin Is Lagging Despite ETF Approval

While the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S. was seen as a turning point for crypto legitimacy, corporate adoption is still significantly lagging behind, according to Marc Degen, co-founder of Trust Square. Degen highlights the disparity between Bitcoin ETF inflows and traditional finance inflows, with JPMorgan attracting eight times more new client money in 2023 than all U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs combined. This lack of corporate adoption is partly attributed to a lack of trust in the crypto industry, with a 2023 study revealing that 75% of those familiar with crypto are not confident in its reliability and safety. Degen believes that corporations are key to building trust and driving mainstream adoption, as new crypto users tend to favor corporate-backed centralized exchanges over decentralized exchanges. However, looking at Bitcoin ETF inflows alone doesn't tell the whole story, as Grayscale’s Bitcoin Trust ETF (GBTC) has seen significant outflows, impacting the overall picture of institutional adoption.
