Could Bitcoin Follow Gold's Bullish Path? Insights from Experts Fred Krueger and Jack Mallers

Gold's recent impressive performance has sparked discussions about Bitcoin's potential trajectory. According to Bitcoin advocate Fred Krueger, the rising gold prices hint at underlying economic worries that might soon influence Bitcoin's path as well. Jack Mallers, founder of Strike, supports this view, stating that “bitcoin is the best expression of fiat debasement” and could reflect gold’s upward trend.
From Gold to Bitcoin: Are Hard Assets Poised for Major Gains?
In a recent video titled “Gold Smells Inflation,” Krueger analyzed gold’s performance over the last two decades. He highlighted that gold underwent a slump from the early 1980s until 1999, with investor focus shifting to stocks, particularly in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq. However, gold began rebounding in the early 2000s, especially around 2004, aided by gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and has increased tenfold since then, significantly outpacing the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s fourfold growth.
Krueger attributes the recent rise in gold prices to growing economic instability, particularly in response to policies proposed by U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris. He draws parallels between these policies and those from socialist regimes, raising concerns about potential wage and price controls similar to those seen in countries like Venezuela and Zimbabwe.
The BTC advocate emphasizes that these economic strategies have reignited interest in gold as a hedge against economic mismanagement and inflationary pressures. He also examines the correlation between gold and Bitcoin, noting that both assets have risen since 2020, although Bitcoin’s gains have been more pronounced.
Krueger believes Bitcoin is nearing a significant breakout, potentially reaching new price heights if not hindered by market pressures such as recent U.S. government actions and the distribution of Mt Gox related coins. He remains bullish on Bitcoin’s future, predicting an “explosive” increase in value as these pressures subside.
Jack Mallers echoed these sentiments on X, discussing gold’s new all-time price high and asserting that Bitcoin is likely the next hard asset to rise. He remarked, “Bitcoin is the best expression of fiat debasement. All aboard the fastest horse, number has to go way up.”
