Eric Adams Rides the Bitcoin Wave: From Criticism to $110K Gains!

Eric Adams Stands Firm Amidst Criticism
New York City Mayor Eric Adams faced significant backlash for opting to receive his first three paychecks in Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) back in early 2022. In a recent press conference on December 3, he quipped,
“Remember y’all laughed at me when I first got my Bitcoin. Who’s laughing now? Go look at my Bitcoin now. You all mock me. You’re taking your first three paychecks in Bitcoin. What’s wrong with you? Now you wish you would have done it.”
Bitcoin's Remarkable Rise
As Bitcoin approaches the $100,000 mark, Adams has seen a substantial increase in his investments. According to his 2023 Conflicts of Interest Board (COIB) report, he holds between $5,000 and $54,999.99 in BTC. Given Bitcoin's impressive 130% increase this year, his holdings could be worth approximately $110,000 now.
Embracing Innovation
Adams emphasized the importance of embracing Bitcoin and innovation, urging people not to fear the potential of cryptocurrencies. He also expressed support for broader technological advancements, including artificial intelligence (AI).
New York's Crypto Landscape
New York has generally maintained a pro-crypto stance, with recent legislative efforts allowing state entities to accept Bitcoin payments. However, there have been concerns, such as a proposed ban on Bitcoin mining, highlighting the complexities of the crypto landscape in the state.
