Speaking to CNBC's Dan Murphy in Abu Dhabi, Eric Trump expressed his long-standing enthusiasm for cryptocurrency, stating that sensible regulatory guidelines could position the U.S. as a cryptocurrency superpower. He emphasized that his father, former President Donald Trump, aims to make America the crypto capital of the world upon his return to the White House.

Bitcoin's Milestone

His comments come as bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency, recently climbed above $100,000 for the first time, reflecting growing confidence among investors that the new U.S. administration will support the crypto industry. While bitcoin is up 137% year-to-date, it has since dipped slightly below the six-figure mark, currently trading around $99,808.62.

The Future of Banking

Eric Trump noted, "The modern banking system is antiquated. It’s just a matter of time before crypto not only catches up, but leaps ahead." He believes that America should lead the way in decentralized finance (DeFi), which aims to recreate traditional financial instruments with cryptocurrency.

Regulatory Clarity Needed

He highlighted that the crypto industry desires clarity and sensible regulations, stating, "The people in the crypto industry are frustrated that no one’s ever put together a sensible plan as to how to regulate an industry. They’re fine with regulation, but they just want guidelines."

A Role for Elon Musk

Eric Trump also mentioned that Elon Musk would play a significant role in shaping future policies, describing him as a “modern-day Albert Einstein.” He emphasized the need for efficiency and innovation in the U.S. economy and expressed hope that Musk would help facilitate these changes.
