Hashdex Seeks Approval for Combined Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF

Hashdex has filed for a combined spot Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) ETF, named the Hashdex Nasdaq Crypto Index US ETF. This proposal, submitted to Nasdaq, represents a significant step in the mainstream adoption of digital assets. The ETF will be market cap-weighted, with Bitcoin making up 70.54% and Ethereum 29.46%. This allocation reflects the dominance of BTC and ETH in the cryptocurrency market, providing investors with balanced exposure to the leading digital assets. The approval of this ETF would be a milestone, following the approval of the first US spot Bitcoin ETFs in January and the anticipated launch of spot Ethereum ETFs. The ETF will exclusively invest in BTC and ETH, excluding crypto securities, tokenized assets, and stablecoins. However, future additions to the index may include crypto assets meeting specific criteria, like listing on a US-regulated platform. Hashdex plans to employ a passive investment strategy, aiming to track the changes in the index regardless of its performance. This filing follows Hashdex's previous attempt to transition its Bitcoin futures ETF to include spot BTC after the initial US spot Bitcoin ETFs were approved.
