Massive Influx: 110,000 Ether Floods Liquid Staking Platforms, Transforming DeFi Landscape

Recent data reveals that liquid staking platforms are on the rise, with a remarkable 110,000 ether (valued at $292 million) deposited into decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols in just one week. This surge highlights the growing interest in liquid staking solutions within the crypto community.
Binance’s Dominance: 88% of New Deposits Go to Staked Ether Protocol
In the past week, liquid staking protocols have seen a significant uptick, with 110,000 ETH added across various platforms. Notably, Lido has increased its holdings from 9.81 million to 9.82 million ETH, representing a gain of 10,000 ETH. Lido now commands a staggering 71.67% market share of locked ETH.
Conversely, Rocket Pool remains stable at 1.18 million ETH, with a modest 1.08% increase over the past month. A striking 88.27% of the new 110,000 ETH influx has flowed into Binance’s Staked Ether protocol, elevating its total ether holdings from 912,902 to over 1 million ETH.
From Aug. 10 to Aug. 18, 2024, Binance’s Staked Ether platform saw an inflow of 97,098 ETH.
Other Platforms Experience Varied Results
Mantle also saw a rise, with its ether supply increasing by 18,718 ETH, bringing its total to 507,452 ETH. Despite these gains, the overall influx was somewhat offset by outflows from smaller liquid staking protocols. For instance, Coinbase recorded a slight decrease of 90 ETH, while Frax lost 1,849 ETH, and Stakestone experienced a drop of 6,106 ETH.
The current trends underscore a dynamic and competitive landscape in liquid staking, where major platforms are solidifying their positions amidst challenges faced by smaller players.
