Mezo Secures $7.5 Million to Revolutionize Bitcoin Scaling – What’s Next?

Mezo's New Funding Round
Mezo, a Bitcoin scaling network developed by Thesis, has successfully raised $7.5 million in a strategic funding round led by Ledger Cathay Fund. This investment aims to enhance the adoption of Mezo’s network and expand its product offerings.
Previous Funding and Current Goals
This latest funding round comes just three months after Mezo emerged from stealth mode with $21 million in prior funding, bringing its total to $30 million. According to Matt Luongo, founder of Mezo, the network will focus on integrating more products, including its Bitcoin staking platform, Acre, which allows users to mint liquid staked bitcoin (stBTC).
User Engagement and Token Plans
Currently, Mezo has around 12,000 users who have deposited approximately 2,376 BTC, valued at about $160 million. The platform rewards depositors with "Proof of HODL" points, totaling over 1.2 billion points issued. Future plans involve the potential launch of a MEZO token, with details expected to be announced soon.
Integration with Ledger
Ledger plans to integrate Mezo into its suite of products, enhancing its offerings in the Bitcoin space. Luongo emphasized that MEZO will play a crucial role in establishing an economic layer for Bitcoin, enabling various applications, including native Bitcoin yield and on-chain social use cases.
