A New Cinematic Venture
Sophia Banks is set to direct a compelling new film focused on Satoshi Nakamoto, the enigmatic founder of Bitcoin. This project will be produced through her own company, Getaway Entertainment.
Inspired by Real Events
According to Deadline, the film draws inspiration from Andrew O’Hagan’s in-depth article, “The Satoshi Affair.” This article chronicles O’Hagan’s interactions with Craig Wright, who controversially claimed to be Nakamoto. The film will delve into the dramatic events that propelled O’Hagan to uncover the true identity of the elusive cryptocurrency creator.
A Collaborative Effort
The screenplay is being adapted by Mark Goffman, who will also take on a producing role alongside David Sacks of David O. Sacks Productions and Daniel Brunt. Banks will collaborate with Damiano Tucci and Arwen Elys Dayton in producing for Getaway Entertainment, with David Seimer serving as an executive producer.
Getaway Entertainment's Ambitious Slate
This announcement follows the recent launch of Getaway Entertainment, co-founded by Banks and Tucci, which has an exciting lineup that includes Cary Fukinaga’s Blood On Snow, Paul Schraeder’s Oh Canada, and Julian Schabel’s In the Hand of Dante.
A Complex Narrative
In her statement to Deadline, Banks expressed enthusiasm for the project, acknowledging the challenge of bringing such a complex story to life. She emphasized that this film will not only tackle the question of “Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?” but will also explore the cultural and technological ripple effects that the creation of Bitcoin has had on our world.
