VanEck Wins Approval for First Spot Bitcoin ETF on Australia's Largest Exchange

The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), the country's largest stock exchange, has approved VanEck's application for the first spot-bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF). This development marks a significant step for the cryptocurrency industry in Australia, offering investors a new way to access Bitcoin (BTC). VanEck's ETF is scheduled to launch on June 20th, becoming the lowest-cost bitcoin ETF in Australia. This approval follows the approval of Monochrome Asset Management's Bitcoin ETF by Cboe Australia in June. The approval by the ASX, a larger and more prominent exchange than Cboe Australia, is expected to boost the legitimacy and adoption of cryptocurrency and its associated ETFs in the region. Previously, DigitalX Ltd. and BetaShares also applied for approval from the ASX in February. The United States approved spot bitcoin ETFs in January, setting the stage for other countries like Australia to follow suit. VanEck, a leading player in the ETF market, plans to leverage its global expertise to provide Australian investors with a best-in-class cryptocurrency solution.
