VanEck's Spot Bitcoin ETF Launched on Australia's ASX

Australia's largest stock exchange, the ASX, has welcomed its first spot Bitcoin ETF (VBTC) from VanEck, marking a significant milestone in the global BTC ETF wave reaching the country. The ETF, which tracks the performance of VanEck's Bitcoin Trust (HODL) listed on the Cboe, debuted on Thursday, June 20, 2024, and saw an initial rise of 1% after trading 99,791 shares. While the VBTC is a feeder fund, it joins another Bitcoin ETF launched on a smaller exchange, Monochrome bitcoin ETF (IBTC), which holds Bitcoin directly. The emergence of these two ETFs reflects the increasing demand for accessible and regulated ways to invest in cryptocurrencies in Australia. This development signals the growing adoption of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency investment options in the region.
