Warren Buffett's Bold Stock Moves: What It Means for Investors

Buffett's New Stakes in Ulta Beauty and Heico
Shares in Ulta Beauty (NASDAQ: ULTA) and Heico surged in premarket trading after Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway revealed it acquired these stocks during the second quarter. Ulta Beauty saw a 16% increase, while Heico rose by 8%.
Berkshire Hathaway purchased approximately 690,000 shares of Ulta Beauty, valued at around $266 million as of June 30, and nearly 1 million shares of Heico Corp.
Changes in Apple and Chevron Holdings
Conversely, the conglomerate reduced its stakes in Apple and Chevron Corp during the same quarter. By the end of Q2, Berkshire had nearly halved its Apple stake to 400,000 shares, valued at $84.2 billion, despite Apple still representing about a third of Berkshire's overall portfolio.
Complete Exit from Paramount Global
Berkshire Hathaway also confirmed its complete exit from Paramount Global, marking a rare misstep for Buffett, who acknowledged selling all shares at a loss during the annual shareholder meeting.
Other Notable Moves
In other significant shifts, Berkshire sold nearly 4.3 million shares of Chevron, yet its share of the Berkshire portfolio increased to 6.6% compared to 5.8% at the end of Q1. Buffett also trimmed holdings in Capital One, Floor & Decor, and T-Mobile US.
On the buying side, Buffett added 7.2 million shares of Occidental Petroleum, raising his total stake to approximately 255 million shares, valued at nearly $16 billion.
